I was looking to change up the Waco Volksmarch for 2016. I went online and laid out a potential 10K route. We set out this morning to walk the planned route. We arrived at the Waco Visitor’s Center right off of I-35 at 7am and the sun was still in hiding but it was 80 degrees and light enough to walk. This is what we saw today during our exploration.

First Street Cemetery.

Sun coming up behind the trees.

BU on a mound near a parking garage.

Truett Seminary.

The Kneeling Christ – by Charles Umlauf 1973.

National Pan-Hellenic Garden – no entrance on the side we walked by.

Sunlight dots the branches of one of the big oak trees.

Waco Creek by the Bear Habitat. The bears weren't out this morning.

The “Immortal 10” memorial.

Information on the accident.

Governor Pat Neff historical marker in front of Neff Hall.

Baylor University President’s residence.

Sun coming up behind the tower.

Bear against the sunrise.

Mayborn Museum

Statue of former Baylor football head coach Grant Teaff.

Plaque about the new bridge that leads to McLane Stadium.

Ed crossing the bridge.

We circled the lake and visited RG3 and we crossed back over to the riverwalk. This is McLane Stadium from the Riverwalk.

Construction prohibits the continuation of the walk route I'd planned out.

So we gave it up and headed back to the visitor's center and our car. The route won't be changed yet.

War Memorial – 143rd Infantry.
